New damage detected at Zaporizhzhia NPP: repair of the power supply line will continue
According to glavcom.ua: The repair of the 330 kV 'Ferrosplavna-1' power line at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP) continues after the successful reconnection of the plant to Ukraine's electricity grid. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi reported that additional damage to the line was discovered during the restoration of power supply.
The backup line 'Ferrosplavna-1', which is crucial for the stability of nuclear safety, requires additional repair work. The plant, which halted six reactors more than three years ago, is still operating on emergency diesel generators, highlighting its vulnerability.
Summary
Following the successful reconnection of the ZNPP to the electricity grid, damage to the backup power line has been identified, threatening the stability of nuclear safety at the facility. Repair works are currently ongoing, and the need for stable power supply for the plant's operation underscores the importance of these measures.
