Critical Infrastructure in Lviv Region Targeted

According to Главком: On Sunday, February 8, Russian forces launched an attack using Iranian-made 'Shahed' drones against critical infrastructure sites in Ukraine's Lviv region. The strikes occurred in Khodoriv at 08:40 and in the city of Lviv at 08:48. Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed all of the incoming drones. Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties or injuries from these attacks. This region, situated in western Ukraine, has become an increasingly frequent target despite its distance from the front lines.

Response and Broader Attack Context

Emergency services are currently on-site assessing the situation. This assault on Lviv was part of a wider wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight. On the night of February 8, Russian occupiers also struck Odesa, where a drone attack ignited a fire at an industrial enterprise. Additionally, an attack was recorded in the Chuhuiv district of the Kharkiv region using a strike drone.

This latest incident follows a previous attack on the Lviv region on February 7, which damaged energy infrastructure. In Staryi Dobrotvir, 18 residential buildings were damaged, with one completely destroyed. As noted by Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration:

“During today's air raid alert, the enemy again attempted to attack critical infrastructure facilities in the Lviv region. Thanks to our defenders, they did not succeed.” - Maksym Kozytskyi
