Odesa Region Attacked on February 27

According to Главком: In the early hours of February 27, the Odesa region came under attack, resulting in damage to civilian, port, and industrial infrastructure. The assault caused significant destruction to infrastructure facilities, storage and production buildings, and industrial equipment. Fires broke out, including in containers holding food supplies.

The attack struck port reservoirs, a construction crane, the facade and windows of a residential building, as well as vehicles and a medical facility. A kindergarten building was completely destroyed, suffering particularly severe damage. This marks the second attack on the region in February; a previous one occurred on the 13th, which damaged infrastructure at one of Odesa's ports, including fertilizer warehouses and transport vehicles. These attacks are part of a wider campaign targeting Ukraine's critical Black Sea infrastructure.

Infrastructure Damage Statistics

Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 694 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged or destroyed, along with over 150 civilian vessels. Despite this, the Ukrainian maritime corridor has processed over 176 million tons of cargo, of which more than 150 million tons is grain. Data also indicates a planned drone attack on port infrastructure for the first day of 2026, highlighting the persistent long-term threat.

This latest strike underscores the ongoing danger to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. The Odesa region, a vital hub for global food exports, continues to face challenges that threaten not only the economy but also the safety of local residents. Such incidents are likely to have long-term consequences for the recovery and development of strategically important facilities in the country.
