Damaged railways and ports
В перший день 2026 року російські удари завдали серйозних руйнувань транспортній інфраструктурі України, уражаючи важливі маршрути та об'єкти.

Attacks on Ukraine's Infrastructure

According to Главком: On January 1, 2026, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine's rail and port infrastructure. The locomotive depot in Kovel suffered damage, with around seven hits recorded from enemy drones. As a result of the attack, freight cars and other logistics facilities were affected. A station in Konotop was also attacked, where freight cars were hit. Repair crews from 'Ukrzaliznytsia' are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attack, but the movement of trains has not been impacted.

In addition to the rail infrastructure, port docks and equipment were damaged in the Izmail port, while port equipment, vehicles, and certain infrastructure facilities were damaged in the Odesa port. This was reported on January 1 by the Vice Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba.

Attacks on Nikopol and Volyn

It should be noted that on December 31, 2025, Russian occupiers attacked Nikopol, where the district center, as well as the communities of Pokrovske, Myrivske, Marhanetske, and Chervonohyhorivska, were subjected to shelling. The enemy used FPV drones and artillery. Mass attacks also occurred in Volyn, leading to large-scale fires. More than 90 emergency responders and over 20 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fires. This was reported on January 1 by the acting head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Vladyslav Haivanenko.

These attacks on infrastructure indicate the continuation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which has serious consequences for the economy and security of the country. A crucial part of responding to these challenges is the timely restoration of damaged facilities, as well as ensuring the safety of civilians. In light of recent events, the efforts of the state and local authorities to eliminate the consequences of attacks and prevent new threats are becoming even more relevant.
