According to Главком: Russian forces launched attacks on Donetsk Oblast on May 16, resulting in the death of one civilian. A total of 12 shelling incidents were recorded, damaging residential buildings and infrastructure across multiple districts. In response to the assaults, 234 people-including 44 children-were evacuated from frontline areas.
Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, stated: 'Over the past day, Russian forces shelled settlements in Donetsk region 12 times. A total of 234 people, including 44 children, were evacuated from the front line.'
The heaviest impact was felt in the Kramatorsk district. In the village of Malotaranivka, a local resident was killed. In Kramatorsk city, an apartment building and three retail outlets were damaged. In Mykolaivka, a multi-story building and a civilian vehicle came under fire, while in Sloviansk, a private home and a local enterprise were destroyed. In Druzhkivka, the enemy targeted an industrial zone.
In the Pokrovsk district, specifically in Dobropillia, a multi-story residential building sustained damage from strikes. In the Bakhmut district, a private house was hit in the village of Riznykivka.
Casualty Statistics and Humanitarian Situation
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 4,068 residents of Donetsk region have been killed, and 9,428 have been wounded. Notably, these figures exclude data from Mariupol and Volnovakha. Amid ongoing threats, local residents continue seeking ways to safety, though the situation remains critical.
