Skyeton Office Targeted in Kyiv Attack

According to Главком: A combined Russian assault on Kyiv during the night of May 14, 2024, destroyed the office of Skyeton, a company that produces and supplies unmanned aerial technologies to Ukraine's Defense Forces. Moscow's troops used ballistic missiles and drones, causing severe damage across the capital. Notably, Skyeton had already relocated its manufacturing operations to various regions inside Ukraine and abroad.

Scope of the Destruction

The attack impacted multiple districts of Kyiv, including:

  • Shevchenkivskyi
  • Pecherskyi
  • Darnytskyi
  • Dniprovskyi
  • Obolonskyi
  • Solomianskyi
  • Desnianskyi
  • Sviatoshynskyi
  • Holosiivskyi

The strikes damaged residential apartment buildings, a business center, non-residential premises, a car dealership, garages, and parked vehicles. In the Darnytskyi district, a nine-story residential building collapsed, and rescue teams recovered a third victim from the rubble.

Skyeton's leadership, headed by Roman Kniazhenko, confirmed that the Kyiv office was specifically targeted by Russian attacks. According to Skyeton's press service:

“Today's Russian attack destroyed our Kyiv office. We knew it was only a matter of time before Skyeton became a target for the Russians, so we were prepared and had already moved production facilities to different parts of our country and abroad.”

During the assault, metro infrastructure also sustained damage, further complicating the city's situation. Skyeton is a key manufacturer of long-range drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and its active operations are critical in the context of the ongoing war.

It is important to note that amid the growing threat from Russia, companies like Skyeton continue working to bolster the country's defense capabilities despite the challenges they face. The company's press release also stated:

“To bring closer the day when we and our loved ones will finally be safe under a peaceful sky on our own land.”

This attack highlights the relentless pressure on Ukrainian infrastructure and defense enterprises that play a vital role in resisting aggression. The destruction of Skyeton's office not only affects the company's operations but also reflects the broader impact of military actions on Ukraine's economic and social stability. While relocating production demonstrates business adaptation to new realities, such strikes can significantly complicate the supply of critical technologies needed by the Armed Forces.

The ongoing conflict has seen a marked increase in attacks across Ukraine, with recent incidents highlighting the dangers faced by civilians and infrastructure alike. For instance, a drone strike in Ivano-Frankivsk targeted residential buildings, underscoring the escalating threat posed by Russian forces. Such strikes not only jeopardize military operations but also put innocent lives at risk, further complicating the already dire situation in the country.
