The Swiss government detained a Latvian who attacked a Ukrainian family with a child on a train from Interlaken to Spiez on Monday, October 13. This is reported by 'Khvylya' based on materials from Kyiv Post.

The incident occurred on a Swiss train where a conflict arose between the Ukrainian family and an unknown man. The couple was speaking Ukrainian, which provoked an aggressive reaction from the assailant. He began to threaten them in Russian, shouting insults and calls for physical violence. Their one-year-old son was also present in the carriage.

The man claimed that he was 'a Russian person' and that his 'guys are sitting in the trenches'. In the video, he can be heard shouting: 'We will kill you to the end!' He also accused the family of 'living on benefits' while he 'pays taxes'. In a rude manner, he demanded that they leave the carriage 'before their child gets injured - psychologically'. According to the wife of the victim, Olena Dudnyk, the attacker not only threatened but also hit her husband. The incident was recorded on video, which shows all the threats and aggression. A fight broke out, and the police had to be called.

'The conflict arose because this character heard me speaking Ukrainian with my husband! My husband was born in Switzerland, has Swiss citizenship, understands Ukrainian well, as his parents are from Belarus. The video shows all his threats, manipulations, and aggression! A fight broke out, and the police were called!' - the woman said.

The assailant had a previous incident of attacking another Ukrainian family at the Bern train station. He does not have Swiss citizenship and is under criminal proceedings. The Latvian State Security Service has also started an investigation against him for attempting to incite national hatred. Vabiks's partner, a native of Odesa, became a refugee in Switzerland. In summary: A Ukrainian family was attacked by a Russian-speaking Latvian on a Swiss train, after which the assailant was detained. The attacker already had a previous incident of attacking another Ukrainian family, which raised concerns among the authorities in Switzerland and Latvia.
