IAEA: External power supply restoration has begun at Zaporizhzhia NPP
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi announced that today, October 9, the process of restoring external power supply to the Zaporizhzhia NPP has started. This news is reported by 'Glavcom', referring to a post by the IAEA on social media X.
«After intensive consultations, the process of restoring external power supply through the 'Dniprovska' and 'Ferrosplavna-1' lines has begun. While it will take some time to reconnect the ZNPP to the energy network, both sides are constructively cooperating with us to achieve this important goal in the interest of nuclear safety and security. No one benefits from further deterioration of the situation in this regard», Grossi stated.
It is worth recalling that on September 23, there was the tenth blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP since the station was occupied by the Russians. Also, on October 6, specialists from the International Atomic Energy Agency recorded several series of shelling near the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
Satellite research from Greenpeace refutes Russia's claims regarding the ZNPP
Greenpeace Ukraine published satellite research that refutes Russia's claims regarding the reasons for the power outage at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The organization's experts concluded that the loss of power supply was a deliberate act of sabotage by Russia aimed at disconnecting the station from Ukraine's energy system and further connecting it to the occupied network.
The Kremlin wants to conduct a test to connect the Zaporizhzhia NPP to its energy system, therefore it tries to deliberately cut off the power supply to the station.
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remains an object of increased attention due to constant shelling and incidents that threaten nuclear safety in Ukraine. This was reported by the country's president Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech at a closed conference attended by a representative of 'Glavcom'.
The announcement from the IAEA regarding the start of restoring external power supply at the Zaporizhzhia NPP indicates attempts to improve the situation and ensure safety at the nuclear station, which is constantly shelled. The satellite research from Greenpeace confirms the Russian origin of the power supply problems at the station, indicating attempts by Russia to intercept control over it. Russia's actions at the Zaporizhzhia NPP confirm the threat to Ukraine's energy security and the need for coordinated measures to protect the station and its employees.
