Reliability Rating of Cars 2025: Which Japanese Models Were Declared the Worst

Japanese Cars with Low Reliability
Оцінка надійності автомобілів 2025 року: Найгірші моделі японського виробництва за версією експертів.

According to hvylya.net: The Consumer Reports organization has released the reliability rating of cars for 2025, some of whose results contradict the established view of impeccable quality of Japanese cars. Although the leading positions in the overall rating were held by Japanese manufacturers Subaru, Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Acura, and Mazda, some models of these brands do not impress with their reliability.

Least Reliable Models

The least reliable Japanese cars in 2025 were the plug-in hybrid versions of the Mazda CX-90 and CX-70. These models received the lowest scores among all Japanese cars presented in the study. Experts found that the plug-in hybrid versions have 70% more problems with powertrains compared to other versions of the models due to the greater number of components in their design, which increases the likelihood of breakdowns.

Reliability issues were also noted with the Toyota Tacoma, which began losing its position as a reliability leader after the release of the new generation in 2024. Similar problems were revealed with the Nissan Frontier after the redesign in 2022. Models from Honda and Infiniti also made it to the antirating due to declining reliability.

Conclusion

The Consumer Reports study emphasizes the importance of an objective approach to car selection and reminds that even well-known Japanese brands can produce models with quality issues. This year, Toyota, Nissan, and Infiniti recalled over a million cars due to operational deficiencies, proving that no manufacturer is insured against reliability problems with its products.

The results of the car reliability rating for 2025 indicate that even traditionally reliable manufacturers can have models with problems. The study highlights the importance of thorough analysis before purchasing a car, as even market leaders can face reliability issues.
