A Shahed Drone Struck the Child’s Bedroom of the Tchaikovsky Music Academy’s Rector
Attack on the Rector’s Apartment and Other Ukrainian Celebrities
According to Главком: In the early hours of June 15, a Shahed drone hit the home of Maksym Tymoshenko, rector of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. The strike destroyed the children’s room where his daughter was sleeping. Tymoshenko shared the following:
'Friends, today a Shahed flew into the children’s room where my daughter was sleeping. The room is gone. My daughter’s legs were cut by glass, but thank God, everyone is alive.' Maksym Tymoshenko
Other Ukrainian public figures also suffered damage to their homes in the same attack, including:
- Kyiv Opera singer Liubov Ryzhenko
- Artist Sonia Moroziuk
- Blogger Marichka Dovbenko
As Tymoshenko noted: 'Just the day before, I gave my daughter flowers, and now her balcony and room are gone. The most important thing is that she is alive.'
Scale of the Attack and Its Aftermath
During this massive bombardment, Russian forces deployed 681 aerial assault assets, including missiles and drones. In Kyiv, the roof of the Dormition Cathedral at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra also caught fire, highlighting the attack’s wide reach. This incident was part of a series of strikes affecting numerous cities across Ukraine.
The event underscores not only the threat to civilians but also the scale of aggression Ukraine faces amid the war. Targeting residential buildings where prominent individuals live raises urgent questions about urban safety, particularly in the capital.
