Ukrainian Officials Speak Out on the War With Russia

According to Главком: Andriy Sybiha, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has declared that all strikes on military targets inside Russia are carried out exclusively with domestically produced weapons. In a statement posted to his official X account, Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine’s defense forces rely solely on equipment developed by the country’s own defense industry. He also accused Russian propaganda of trying to convince the public that Moscow is fighting a war against the collective West, in an effort to cover up President Vladimir Putin’s humiliation and justify the conflict’s length.

Sybiha argued that Putin miscalculated back in February 2022, and warned that Western sanctions, international isolation, and the extension of combat operations onto Russian soil will only deepen the crisis inside Russia. The minister called on Putin to acknowledge defeat and end the war, stating:

“Every month he refuses to admit this and stop this war, the situation for him and his regime will only get worse.”

Sybiha also noted that the Kremlin still has a diplomatic way out: ordering its occupation forces to cease fire and bring the war to a close.

Russia’s Threat and the International Community’s Stance

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for his part, warned that Russia will intensify its missile and drone attacks. He stated that Putin fears the return of his own army home and suggested that the Kremlin’s goal is to restore the Soviet Union. Zelenskyy recorded an audio commentary after the Ramstein meeting and the Ukraine-EU Council summit in Brussels, where security and support for Ukraine were discussed.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, during a European Council session in Brussels, urged the European Union not to rush into peace negotiations with Russia, as the Kremlin currently shows no genuine interest in dialogue to end the war. Nausėda argued that a hasty push for talks could prove counterproductive given the current geopolitical climate.

These statements from Ukrainian officials signal that Kyiv continues to actively counter Russian aggression and emphasizes the use of its own resources for combat operations. Meanwhile, the international community remains aligned with Ukraine, as evidenced by support from the European Union and its individual leaders. In this evolving situation, maintaining unity and sustained pressure on Russia is seen as crucial to achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

In light of the escalating tensions, the UN Security Council's emergency session highlights the urgent need for a coordinated international response to Russia's aggressive actions. This meeting underscores the gravity of the situation as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty against external threats.
