General Syrskyi's Visit to the Donetsk Region

According to Главком: Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, conducted a working trip to units in the Donetsk region, focusing his attention on the defense of the town of Kostiantynivka. During the visit, Syrskyi worked within the operational area of the 19th Corps, which is responsible for defending the Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka agglomeration. Russian forces are reportedly attempting to improve their tactical position in this sector by combining small infantry group assaults with massed drone strikes.

Units of the 19th Corps have been successfully repelling attempts to capture Kostiantynivka for almost a year. Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that

"For nearly a year, the corps' units have successfully repelled the enemy's attempts to seize Kostiantynivka, held their positions, and inflicted significant losses on the enemy."

The command staff demonstrates a high level of adaptability to battlefield changes, making proactive and unconventional decisions. The general paid particular attention to analyzing proposals from commanders regarding the urgent needs of their units.

Key Focus Areas of the Visit

The key aspects discussed were:

  • enhancing capabilities to counter enemy drone systems;
  • ensuring the supply of ammunition and other logistical materials.

Simultaneously, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported the spread of a fake video online. In it, a man in uniform impersonates a serviceman of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinskyi, claiming he and a group of fighters are abandoning their positions in the Donetsk region without orders. This is part of a large-scale Russian information campaign aimed at discrediting Ukrainian defenders; hostile sources are also spreading fabrications about Ukrainian soldiers using prohibited substances. These disinformation efforts are a persistent feature of the hybrid war, seeking to undermine morale and international support.

The frontline situation remains tense, yet Ukrainian forces continue to effectively execute their tasks, including destroying occupier logistics, neutralizing assaulting infantry, and prioritizing the preservation of Ukrainian defenders' lives.

General Syrskyi's visit underscores the active engagement of the Ukrainian command in securing the defense of key positions in Donetsk. Despite enemy information attacks and disinformation, Ukrainian military personnel maintain a resilient defense, which is critically important in the context of a protracted war. The focus on strengthening counter-drone capabilities reflects the adaptation of Ukrainian forces to new battlefield challenges, a factor that could prove decisive in future engagements.

As the situation in Donetsk evolves, the Ukrainian military continues to demonstrate resilience on multiple fronts. Recently, Ukrainian forces have successfully reclaimed significant territory, halting the Russian advance in other critical areas.
