Over 200 Azov fighters freed from captivity: how the exchange process is continuing
The soldiers of the 'Azov' regiment are successfully returning from Russian captivity, reported the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov. In total, over 200 fighters have already returned home, but just a little more than 800 remain in captivity. This process is ongoing, but there are difficulties due to the artificially complicated process of releasing the captives, which may lead to tensions in Ukrainian society.
Also, the Head of Intelligence noted that Russia wants to return its 'spies' and there is a list of individuals who are objects of exchange with the Ukrainian side. Some of these individuals have high status, making them an attractive target for military intelligence.
Currently, a judicial process is underway in Russia against Ukrainian servicemen accused of crimes committed in occupied territories. Soldiers in strict regime colonies have been assigned various sentences for the crimes they are accused of.
