Slavutych left without electricity after shelling: 8,500 families without power
Shelling of Kyiv region: Consequences for Slavutych
According to Главком: As a result of the shelling in the Kyiv region, the city of Slavutych has been left without electricity, affecting 8,500 families. The shelling occurred on the night of January 5, when Russian occupiers struck the region. As a result of the attack, one residential building was destroyed, and 13 private houses and an apartment building were damaged. Additionally, a drone hit a private medical center building. Unfortunately, the death of one person has been confirmed, and four other civilians were injured.
Restoration of electricity supply and support for the population
Due to the lack of centralized electricity supply, critical infrastructure facilities have been switched to backup power. Social service institutions are provided with electricity from generators and batteries, allowing them to continue operating. Energy workers are already working on restoring electricity supply. As Mykola Kalashnyk noted, energy workers are actively engaged in restoration to return power to residents' homes as soon as possible.
For the needs of the population, support points have been opened in Slavutych where residents can find assistance and help. Among them:
- School 1
- Gymnasium 'KrOКus' (School 2)
- School 3
- Lyceum 'BezMezh' (School 4)
- Cinema and concert complex
- KP 'ZhKTs'
- Citywide library and information center
- Fire station
Water supply in the city was also unavailable from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on January 5. Residents hope for a quick restoration of electricity supply and normalization of the situation.
This event is part of an ongoing military conflict that continues to impact the daily lives of Ukrainians, especially in front-line regions. The absence of electricity and water supply poses significant difficulties for the population; however, authorities are responding quickly to the situation, providing necessary support through resilience points.
The restoration of infrastructure remains a priority for energy companies, who are making efforts to restore the normal functioning of the city.
