The Death of the Ghost of Kyiv Pilot: What We Know About Hero Sergiy Bondar

A tragic event occurred on the night of August 23, when Ukrainian pilot Major Sergiy Bondar was killed while returning from a combat mission. He served in the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, known as the 'Ghost of Kyiv.'

Sergiy Bondar was born in 1979 in Kropyvnytskyi and graduated from the Military Aviation Institute in Kharkiv. He worked as a lecturer during breaks in his military service. After the war in Ukraine began, he returned to military service and flew L-39 and MiG-29 aircraft again, carrying out combat missions to protect the Ukrainian sky.

He was remembered as a balanced and professional pilot, as well as a person with a big heart and a zest for life. Today, the hero is remembered by his family, friends, and comrades in arms.
