Heatwave Hits Ukraine on June 28 with Temperatures Up to +35°C
Ukraine Weather Outlook for Late June
According to Главком: Starting Sunday, June 28, Ukraine will experience a significant temperature rise. Overnight lows across most regions will range from +15°C to +22°C, while daytime highs will climb to between +27°C and +34°C. The western areas will be the hottest, with temperatures potentially reaching +35°C or slightly higher. In contrast, eastern Ukraine will see cooler daytime peaks of +23°C to +28°C, accompanied by possible local showers.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the coming week will be notably warmer than the current one, with many regions expected to see temperatures exceeding +30°C. However, forecasts do not currently predict readings near +40°C; such possibilities will be refined closer to the end of the week.
“Preliminary forecasts indicate that next week will be significantly warmer than this one: many regions will see over +30°C. At the same time, there are no forecasts with temperatures around +40°C at this point,” noted meteorologist Natalia Ptukha.
European Heatwave Reaches Extreme Levels
On Sunday, June 28, Ukraine’s daily maximum will hit up to +34°C. In parts of Europe-specifically Spain, Portugal, and France-temperatures could soar to 45°C. This extreme heatwave has already caused at least 18 deaths in France, underscoring the severity of the situation. Ukraine, however, will see relatively moderate conditions compared to these European countries, especially in the east, where cloudier skies and rain are expected.
The overarching trend is rising temperatures, which will affect Ukraine’s weather in the coming days. Residents should monitor changing conditions closely, as these shifts can significantly impact daily activities.
The anticipated temperature increase in Ukraine, set against the backdrop of abnormal weather elsewhere in Europe, may disrupt the usual routines of Ukrainians. It is crucial to heed meteorologists’ advice and follow safety measures during the heat. Given the tragic outcomes in Europe, where the heatwave has already led to fatalities, Ukrainian citizens should remain cautious and aware of the risks associated with high temperatures.
As Ukraine braces for a notable temperature rise, it’s essential to understand how this situation compares to the extreme heat affecting other regions. For instance, while Ukraine's temperatures will peak at a relatively moderate +35°C, parts of Western Europe are facing unprecedented highs nearing +40°C.
