Ukrainian singer Ruslana Lyzhytska openly expressed her attitude towards Russia. She emphasized that she has always considered Russia foreign to her. Even with Ural roots on her mother's side, she never regarded herself as a Muscovite. In her statement, the singer refuses even to name Russia.
'Mentally, Russia has always been foreign to me. I have Ural blood from my mother. I do not consider Ural blood to be Muscovite. The Ural is a completely different historical and ethnic theme altogether,' Ruslana Lyzhytska explained.
The singer also emphasized that she feels a connection to Europe and considers Russia a foreign country. She refused to perform in Russian in duets with Russian performers and expressed sharp criticism towards Russians, calling them 'spiritually impoverished.' Ruslana Lyzhytska claims that Russians try to appropriate cultural values and history, showing disrespect for the heritage and symbols of other nations.
