The Russian occupation administration in the temporarily seized part of the Kharkiv region announced a so-called 'criminal case' against Ukrainian singer Artem Pivovarov. The reason is his public support for Ukraine and assistance to the Ukrainian military. This was reported by the singer on Threads.

Artem Pivovarov is being persecuted in Russia for supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to representatives of the fake 'Ministry of Internal Affairs' created by the occupiers, the artist is accused under several fabricated articles of Russian legislation.

Among them:

  • 'discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation';

  • 'supporting Ukrainian military';

  • 'funding armed groups'.

For these accusations, the Russian side threatens Pivovarov with punishment of up to 20 years of imprisonment.

The basis for the persecution was the singer's open civic position. Artem Pivovarov has repeatedly stated his support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, participates in charity collections for the needs of the Main Intelligence Directorate, and helps purchase equipment for Ukrainian defenders.

Russia continues to persecute Ukrainian artists

Artem Pivovarov was born in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region. This city suffered massive destruction as a result of Russian aggression.

The case with Pivovarov is not isolated. The Russian authorities and the occupation structures created by them have repeatedly announced criminal persecution of Ukrainian cultural figures who openly support Ukraine.

Among them, in particular, is writer and musician Serhiy Zhadan. The Russian side has also brought charges against him for serving in the Defense Forces of Ukraine, volunteer activities, supporting the 13th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine 'Charter', and performing for Ukrainian soldiers.
