Epstein's case threatens UK Prime Minister: how the scandal will affect support for Ukraine

According to Студия Руслана Бизяева: The political scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's case poses a serious threat to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. As reported by Bloomberg, the reason may be the appointment of Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the US, who turned out to be connected to Epstein. Starmer's chief of staff has already resigned over this decision, and ministers may demand the Prime Minister's resignation. This internal crisis in the UK unfolds against the backdrop of external political challenges, particularly supporting Ukraine. Analysts do not rule out that this political earthquake could lead to an increase in the influence of the opposition Reform Party, led by Nigel Farage, which could potentially change London's priorities.

Discussion on Ukraine's future

At the same time, discussions on Ukraine's future are ongoing. The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Yegor Cherniv, stated that even in the event of a Russian attack on NATO forces in Ukraine, this would not automatically be recognized as an attack on NATO member countries. This contrasts with public expectations and statements like the NATO Secretary General's address:

“Dear Ukrainians, hold on. The winter is long, but spring is coming soon, warmth will come soon.” - NATO Secretary General

At the same time, the Institute for the Study of War warns about Russia accumulating forces for a new large-scale offensive this summer, potentially in the directions of Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Orikhiv-Zaporizhzhia. In Ukraine's domestic politics, the discourse on mobilization continues. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 'there is no slavery in Ukraine', and those who are not subject to mobilization by age have the right to leave. Mykolaiv region governor Vitaliy Kim, in turn, expressed the opinion that Zelensky would win the presidential election after the war ends.
