The USA predicted Russia's ultimatum and took on its main ally
The United States is urging Russia to conclude a peace agreement regarding Ukraine within 50 days starting from July 14. In the absence of progress, Washington has stated its readiness to take additional measures. This was reported by the acting U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Dorothy Shea, during a Security Council meeting, as reported by Ukrinform.
As Shea noted, U.S. President Donald Trump sent the relevant signal to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to her, if Russia does not cease hostilities by the deadline, the United States will take further measures in response.
The U.S. representative also reminded that more than a hundred days ago, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for an end to the war and the establishment of peace in Ukraine. She stated that despite negotiations that took place in Istanbul and Saudi Arabia, the progress achieved remains limited.
China's role in the Ukrainian conflict is called into question
Separately, Dorothy Shea expressed doubts about China's role, questioning Beijing's official statements regarding the control of dual-use goods exports to Russia. According to her, relevant components made in China continue to be found in drones, weapons, and vehicles used in the war against Ukraine.
'China's statement about introducing strict controls simply crumbles in the face of the daily discovery of Chinese parts in Russian weaponry,' Shea noted.
The United States is urging Russia to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ukraine within 50 days, threatening to impose new measures in case of failure. The diplomat also expressed doubts about China's role in the events unfolding in Eastern Ukraine, leaving open questions about the control over the export of goods to Russia.
