Businesses Can Now Apply for Up to €25 Million in State Loans for On-Site Energy Generation
Funding Program for Self-Generation Projects
According to Мін. Економіки: A new financing initiative has been launched to support medium and large enterprises in building their own energy generation capacity. Companies can secure loans ranging from €1 million to €25 million at an annual interest rate of 10%, with repayment periods of up to five years. This program is a key component of Ukraine's Internal Resilience Plan, designed to help businesses strengthen their energy infrastructure amid ongoing challenges.
How the Funds Can Be Used
Borrowers can allocate the funds toward:
- construction of new power generation facilities;
- energy storage systems;
- energy islands;
- microgrids;
- other critical infrastructure projects.
For projects located in frontline areas, the minimum loan amount is set at €500,000, while the maximum remains €25 million (in hryvnia equivalent).
The loan term extends up to five years, with a grace period of up to 12 months for principal payments during construction and commissioning. Applications can be submitted through any of the 14 authorized partner banks.
Minister Oleksiy Sobolev stated: 'From now on, medium and large enterprises can access concessional financing to build new generation capacity and energy storage systems.'
This initiative aims to bolster Ukraine's energy independence, especially given the current pressures the country faces. By investing in new energy assets, businesses can reduce their energy costs and enhance their resilience to external threats-a critical factor for national energy security.
In addition, funding such projects can stimulate job creation and regional development, supporting broader economic recovery efforts across Ukraine.
In parallel with this funding initiative, the Ukrainian government has also launched a tender for the development of over 1.3 GW of new power generation capacity. This move underscores the country’s commitment to enhancing its energy infrastructure and independence.
