Shadow tobacco: the tax service imposed record fines
The State Tax Service conducted more than 13,000 inspections of entities selling tobacco products this year. As a result, fines totaling more than 221 million hryvnias were imposed, cigarettes worth more than 19.5 million hryvnias were seized, and 536 licenses for illegal retail trade were revoked.
Acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesia Karnauh urged for the consolidation of efforts between government bodies and business to combat the shadow economy. She emphasized the importance of joint work in various sectors such as retail, e-commerce, and the food industry.
Lesia Karnauh also warned against inaction in the fight against the shadow economy, noting that anyone who allows it to develop will be held accountable. She called for active measures to ensure economic and national security.
