According to ДСНС: The tragedy occurred in the village of Hamaliivka, where a 1974-born fisherman fell through the ice and died. The incident happened during fishing when the man could not maintain his footing on the thin ice.

The body of the deceased was found 150 meters from the shore. Rescuers arrived at the scene, but the victim had already gone under the ice, complicating the rescue operation.
