According to glavcom.ua: U.S. President Donald Trump expressed the opinion that the death penalty should be implemented in the capital of the country, Washington, for intentional murders. He called it a measure against crime and noted that, although it may be shocking to society, there is no choice. Trump's proposal only concerns the federal district, while states can make their own decisions on this matter.

Currently, the death penalty is not applied in the District of Columbia. It was abolished by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1972 and by the District Council in 1981. Currently, 23 states and the District of Columbia have abandoned this practice, while 27 states, the federal government, and the U.S. military continue to maintain it.

President Trump also stated that his initiative to introduce the death penalty is aimed at reducing crime rates. According to him, since August 7, there have been more than 1094 arrests in the capital. It is also worth noting that during Trump's first term, 13 federal executions were carried out, setting a record among modern American presidents.

Donald Trump has proposed to introduce the death penalty for intentional murders in the capital of the USA, Washington. His initiative is aimed at combating crime, however, this issue remains contentious both in the district itself and across the country.
