Ukrainians may feel an increase in prices for a number of goods in 2026 if the state budget project is approved. According to agronews.ua, citizens of the country are forecasted to see the introduction of new taxes and an increase in excise taxes aimed at filling the state treasury by 402 billion hryvnias and converting tax rates to European standards.
For example, the excise tax on cigarettes will increase from 58 to 61 euros per thousand units, while the minimum tax obligations will rise from 78 to 82 euros
Prices for goods for heating tobacco will also slightly increase, but prices for alcohol will remain unchanged. Drivers will also feel the impact through rising fuel excise taxes, which will lead to higher prices for gasoline and diesel.
New taxes on sweet beverages and online trading through platforms like OLX are also planned to be introduced to collect an additional 14 billion hryvnias for the budget. Increased military tax rates will remain unchanged for entrepreneurs and companies.
In general, Ukrainians should prepare for increased spending on the purchase of tobacco products, fuel, and some other goods, which may affect their daily budget in the near future.
