Berlin to Host First Ukrainian Unity Center in Europe, Offering Return and Pension Guidance

Center of Unity for Ukrainians in Berlin
Берлін відкриває перший в Європі центр підтримки українців, що надасть допомогу з поверненням та консультації щодо пенсійних прав.

Berlin Welcomes New Ukrainian Unity Center

According to Главком: The inaugural Ukrainian Unity Center in Europe will open its doors in Berlin on April 15. This facility is designed to assist Ukrainian citizens living abroad and to facilitate their potential return to their homeland. It represents the first in a planned network of similar centers to be established in other countries.

Services Provided by the Center

The Berlin Center will offer a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Consultations with Ukraine's Pension Fund on matters related to pensions, housing subsidies, benefits, and insurance contributions.
  • Educational and cultural initiatives aimed at supporting children and youth.
  • Regular activities for children and young people based on the Ukrainian scouting model.
  • Seminars and consultations on education and combating misinformation.
  • Career guidance and training in digital technologies.

The Center will be administered by the Agency for National Unity LLC. Following its opening, the space will initially operate in a pilot phase. Updates on the Center's activities will be published on its official Facebook page.

Denys Uliutin: 'Germany is the first country with which Ukraine has signed a joint declaration to open a Unity Center. We want the Berlin Center to become a space for our citizens to maintain their connection with Ukraine, as well as a place to obtain verified information for making a decision about returning home.'

This initiative is part of a broader effort to support the large Ukrainian diaspora that formed following Russia's full-scale invasion. The Center will serve as a vital resource for Ukrainians seeking support and opportunities for reintegration into Ukrainian society.

The establishment of the Ukrainian Unity Center in Berlin marks a significant step in supporting the diaspora abroad, particularly under current challenging circumstances. This project aims not only to assist Ukrainians who have temporarily left the country but also to encourage their return, which could positively impact Ukraine's post-crisis recovery. The planned educational and cultural initiatives also demonstrate an intent to preserve Ukrainian identity and strengthen ties among Ukrainians in different nations. Such centers could serve as a model for other countries hosting Ukrainian communities.
