Brody: A City Steeped in History

According to Державна міграційна служба: Located in the Lviv region, Brody boasts a rich past, with its first recorded mention dating back to 1084. Among its architectural highlights is the Brody Castle, built in the 17th century. Designed as a perfect pentagon with five bastions, the castle was used as a military base during the Soviet era. Today, a small portion of its casemates is undergoing gradual restoration.

The city is also home to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, constructed in 1600. Brody is particularly known for its Jewish heritage: during the 18th and 19th centuries, the Jewish community made up the majority of the population, and the Great Synagogue was built in 1742. Other notable symbols include an oak tree that sprouted from an acorn in the mid-17th century, serving as a living witness to history, and an alley of ancient oaks marked on 18th-century Austrian maps.

Upgraded Migration Office for Better Service

The migration service in Brody has recently undergone upgrades to improve the experience for residents and visitors alike. The local branch of the Western Interregional Department of the State Migration Service now features an additional entrance with a ramp, a call button for staff assistance near the door, and tactile navigation signs throughout the facility. A children's corner has also been set up for added convenience.

Office hours are as follows:

• Tuesday through Friday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM;
• Saturday: 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM;
• Lunch break: 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on weekdays, and 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM on Saturday;
• Closed on Sunday and Monday.

Appointments for passport and other document services can be booked through the online queue system on the official DMS website.

Department head Marian Stolyar noted: 'We understand that the migration service represents the face of the state. Anyone coming to us for a passport or other services should feel respected and cared for from the very first moment.'
