Beta Testing of Digital European Accident Statement Begins

According to ХВИЛЯ: In July 2026, the Diia app will launch beta testing for a digital European accident statement (Europrotocol) following traffic collisions. This new feature was announced by Valeriya Koval, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation. It is worth noting that the government approved a corresponding resolution in December 2025, laying the groundwork for this initiative.

Requirements for Using the Digital Europrotocol

To qualify for the digital Europrotocol, the following conditions must be met:

  • No more than two vehicles involved in the accident;
  • No injuries reported;
  • Both drivers are sober;
  • All parties fully agree on the circumstances and who is at fault.

If these conditions are satisfied, the process will be streamlined through technology. The user will select a typical accident diagram within the app, receive step-by-step photo guidance, and the other participant will verify the data and sign the document with a digital signature. The completed Europrotocol will be sent directly to the insurance company, greatly simplifying the claims settlement process.

This innovation in the Diia app aims to boost efficiency and convenience in accident reporting, which could reduce the workload on traffic police and improve insurance services for citizens.

The introduction of the electronic Europrotocol in Ukraine reflects a broader trend toward digitalization and administrative simplification. This initiative could mark a significant step in modernizing traffic management systems and cutting bureaucratic red tape. By streamlining accident documentation, these changes may enhance public trust in government services and contribute to overall road safety.

As Ukraine moves towards enhancing its traffic management systems, the introduction of the digital Europrotocol is just one facet of the broader reforms underway. In parallel, the government is also considering a tiered system of fines for speeding offenses, aimed at improving road safety and compliance among drivers. These initiatives reflect a significant shift towards more efficient and modern traffic regulations.
