A new 360-apartment neighborhood rises in Hostomel to replace homes destroyed by war
Rebuilding Hostomel
According to Міністерство інфраструктури: Construction is underway in Hostomel on a new residential district built on the site of homes destroyed by Russian aggression in 2022. This housing complex, featuring 360 apartments, is a key component of the broader effort to restore infrastructure damaged during active hostilities. Before the full-scale invasion, the same location housed 272 apartments, all of which sustained severe damage.
Modern amenities and safety features
The project goes beyond simply providing new housing. It includes a modern, secure infrastructure, notably a dual-purpose structure with protective features designed to serve as a radiation shelter. During peacetime, this facility will function as a sports complex; in the event of an emergency, it can accommodate over 1,200 people at once.
Active construction is already progressing on-site:
- The construction site has been fully prepared;
- Work is moving forward on the first and second phases of the project;
- Underground structures for both the residential buildings and the future shelter are being built.
“Restoring housing is one of the state’s top priorities. In Hostomel, we are not just rebuilding what was destroyed. We are creating a new quality of living space: modern homes, a barrier-free environment, safe infrastructure, and shelters.”
Oleksiy Kuleba
Hostomel’s reconstruction marks a vital step in the recovery of a region scarred by war. The new housing complex will not only meet residents' need for homes but also deliver safety and everyday comfort. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a livable environment amid contemporary challenges-especially ensuring civilian protection during emergencies.
