A truck with 157 kg of heroin detained in Georgia: the value of the batch is 18.5 million dollars
Heroin Detention in Georgia
According to Главком: Georgia has prevented the import of 157 kg of heroin, valued at 50 million lari, equivalent to 18.5 million dollars. The drugs were discovered in a truck entering through the Red Bridge customs checkpoint. A citizen of Iran, the driver of the truck, has been detained in connection with this matter.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway regarding this case. It is known that in May this year, 10 members of an international drug syndicate were detained in Ukraine and Poland, who, according to law enforcement, may have been involved with this batch of heroin. The monthly earnings of the participants in this syndicate exceeded 100 thousand dollars.
Drug Problems in the Region
This incident highlights drug problems in the region. In particular, on December 31, one resident of Kyiv was sentenced to more than 9 years in prison for the illegal sale of psychotropic substances. The accused acquired and attempted to sell psychotropic substances PVP and methamphetamine. The detention in Georgia has further confirmed the active actions of law enforcement in combating drug crime.
The detection of a large amount of heroin in Georgia indicates the ongoing activity of international drug traffickers in the region.
At the same time, the cases of detaining members of drug syndicates in Ukraine and Poland indicate that the drug problem is transnational and requires a comprehensive approach to its resolution. Law enforcement agencies continue to take measures to eliminate drug supply channels, which can positively affect the overall situation in the region.
