Charity Mass Sports Event: MHP Run4Victory Kyiv Marathon

According to Главком: Kyiv residents and visitors should prepare for temporary traffic restrictions on several city streets as the capital hosts the MHP Run4Victory Kyiv Marathon, a charity mass sports event, on May 16 and 17. The Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) has released details on the planned changes. This marathon is part of ongoing efforts to combine athletic competition with fundraising for social causes.

Traffic Restrictions and Public Transport Adjustments

On May 16, traffic will be limited from 10:30 AM until the event concludes, expected around 1:00 PM. The following streets will be closed to vehicles:

  • Espandna Street (from Rohinidska Street to Saksahanskoho Street);
  • Zhylanska Street (from Velyka Vasylkivska Street to Antonovycha Street).

Public transport schedules will also be altered on this day. Specifically, bus route No. 69 will operate from Lytvynenko-Volhemut Street to Velyka Vasylkivska Street. Trolleybus routes No. 3, No. 9-K, No. 12, No. 14, and No. 40 will see changes, with detours around affected areas. For instance, trolleybus No. 3 will run from Zaliznychnyi Masyv to the Southern Railway Station, while trolleybus No. 14 will travel from the Botanical Garden to the Palats Sportu metro station.

On May 17, traffic restrictions will be in effect from 8:00 AM until the event ends, estimated around 3:00 PM. The following areas will be closed:

  • Saksahanskoho Street (starting from building No. 2/34);
  • Halytska Square;
  • Beresteiskyi Avenue (odd-numbered side) up to the intersection with Akademika Yangelia Street.

Additional public transport route adjustments are planned for this day. For example, bus No. 2 will run from Vakhtanga Kikabidze Street to Akademika Yangelia Street, and bus No. 5 will travel from Iziumska Street to the Central Railway Station via Zhylanska Street and Bessarabska Square. Trolleybuses and minibuses will also adapt their routes to the street closures.

The KCSA Department of Transport Infrastructure urges Kyiv residents and city guests to factor these temporary changes into their travel plans. During the marathon, temporary parking restrictions will also be enforced on certain sections of the route. These measures are designed to ensure participant safety and a smooth event experience.

The MHP Run4Victory Marathon is a key event in the capital’s sports calendar and simultaneously supports charitable initiatives. While the traffic restrictions and public transport changes may cause some inconvenience, they are necessary to guarantee the safety of all participants.

In addition to the upcoming marathon, it's important for residents to stay informed about other upcoming changes to public transport. For instance, there will be adjustments to bus routes during the weekends of May 9-10, which may also affect travel plans.
