In Kyiv, a train driver will be tried for injuring a passenger. Prosecutors of the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv have sent an indictment to the court against the driver of the electric train who departed from the station without ensuring that all passengers boarded the carriage.

While operating the electric train from the 'Troieshchyna 2' station, the driver closed the doors and began to move. At that moment, the 82-year-old man's legs, which had remained outside the carriage after he fell while boarding, were caught in the doors. The victim travelled to the next stop and sustained open fractures of both legs.

The driver's actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a violation by a railway transport worker of safety rules that resulted in serious bodily harm to the victim.

The specified article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 7 years.

Details can be found on the website of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office Press Service.

As a result of the trial, the driver may expect severe punishment for violating traffic safety rules that led to serious injuries to the passenger. The immediate reaction of the prosecutor's office indicates the importance of adhering to all necessary safety measures in public transport.
