According to glavcom.ua: Thousands of mechanics at Boeing's defense facility in the St. Louis area have gone on strike, the first such open confrontation since the mid-1990s. Approximately 3,200 workers in Missouri and Illinois rejected the latest contract proposal from Boeing.

“We are ready to strike and have fully done everything necessary to support our workers and not leave our customers unattended,” said Boeing Vice President Dan Gillian.

The strike presents a new obstacle for Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, who is trying to stabilize the airline after financial and production struggles. The current strike involves members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 837, who are engaged in the manufacture of fighters and munitions.
