UDO explained why Parubiy was not granted protection: who has the right to security

According to glavcom.ua: In the UDO statement, it is noted that according to Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine 'On the State Protection of State Authorities and Officials of Ukraine', protection is provided only to a limited number of high-ranking officials, including the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, and others. Also, during their terms, they and their families have state protection.

The State Guard Management of Ukraine (UDO) responded to media reports that Andriy Parubiy allegedly requested protection six months before the assassination, but was refused, as reported by 'Glavcom'.

The law also provides that upon completion of their terms, these officials receive state protection for one year, except in cases where a court decision has been issued against them.

Reactions from the authorities to Parubiy's assassination

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Attorney General informed the president about this incident. The political community expresses condolences and demands a transparent investigation. A pre-trial investigation into the murder of Parubiy has begun.

UDO explained that only certain high-ranking officials have the right to state protection according to Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine. Therefore, the refusal to provide protection to Andriy Parubiy was fully justified. It should be noted that the assassination of the politician has caused deep outrage in the political environment, and a judicial investigation into this crime has been initiated.
