Перші постачання американського скрапленого газу в Україну у 2026 році досягли значної позначки в обсязі близько 100 мільйонів кубічних метрів.

Ukraine Receives First LNG Shipment from the United States

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine has taken delivery of its first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States for the year 2026, receiving it via Poland. This delivery, facilitated in cooperation with the Polish state-owned company ORLEN, amounts to nearly 100 million cubic meters of gas. The fuel has already been integrated into Ukraine's national gas transmission system. This move is part of a broader strategy to secure alternative energy sources amid ongoing regional instability.

The Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, Serhiy Koretskyi, announced the delivery. He noted that this volume of gas is sufficient to meet the monthly consumption needs of approximately 700,000 households. The tanker carrying the fuel arrived at the Polish terminal in Świnoujście in late January, after which the gas was transferred into Ukraine's pipeline network.

Plans for the Remainder of 2026

Throughout 2026, Ukraine plans to import up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas from the United States. Subsequent shipments of American gas are already under contract and are scheduled for delivery to Ukraine in February and March. Serhiy Koretskyi emphasized the critical importance of systematic work with international partners to secure the resources needed for a stable winter, especially given the persistent attacks on the country's gas and energy infrastructure.

"Receiving this first LNG shipment from the United States is a significant milestone in bolstering Ukraine's energy security, particularly in the context of ongoing threats from the aggressor." - Serhiy Koretskyi

Cooperation with Poland and other international allies enables Ukraine to diversify its gas supply sources, thereby reducing dependence on traditional suppliers. This also underscores the vital importance of developing robust energy transportation infrastructure, which is critical for maintaining stability in the nation's energy market.
