'The IMF has agreed with the Ukrainian authorities on a plan to liberalize the gas market after the war. This could lead to an increase in gas and electricity prices to market levels,' explained energy analyst Denis Sakva.

Experts predict a phased increase in tariffs over three to five years. The memorandum also anticipates protection for the most vulnerable households from high tariffs through a review of subsidies. Liberalization will allow consumers to choose their gas and electricity suppliers.
