Ukrainian with a transplanted heart: how a heart-sick youth became an athlete
According to glavcom.ua: When 16-year-old Vladislav Gutnik from Cherkasy was diagnosed with an incurable heart disease, he needed a transplant to save his life. At that time, transplants were not performed in Ukraine, so Vladislav had to undergo surgery in India. This was reported by 'Glavkom', citing 'Suspilne'.
All important steps concerning the patient's health were taken by him and his mother.
'My legs were swollen, they were so big, my arms too. When I went to the hospital, I weighed 65 kilograms, and there I lost weight to 53, they drained the fluids from me because I was so swollen. From then on, after the surgery, my height increased, my weight increased, and my beard grew, everything is fine,' Vladislav himself recounted.
After a long wait in India and numerous trials and errors, the boy managed to maintain his health in norm after the operation. Today, Vladislav Gutnik lives a full life, restored hope for the future, and with a healthy heart.

The operation not only saved Vladislav's life but also allowed him to fulfill his childhood dream – to return to sports and hold football matches in villages. Other remarkable surgeries included heart transplants without stopping the heartbeat in Taiwan and a procedure during which the heart was transplanted using a robot in the USA.
Ukrainian Vladislav Gutnik, who managed to survive a heart transplant in India, went through a difficult path to recovery and return to an active life, thanks to the support of his family and modern medical technologies.
