Ukrainian AI Startups Attracted $20 Million During the War: Top 5 Successful Projects

In early 2022, Ukrainian startups focusing on artificial intelligence managed to attract over $20 million in investments despite the war and the outflow of foreign investors. Some of these companies have emerged recently but have already gained recognition from TIME magazine. Delo.ua presented a ranking of the five best Ukrainian startups.

1. Esper Bionics – $7 million

Esper Bionics develops robotic prosthetics and has offices in New York, Lviv, and Berlin. They were founded in 2019, and their bionic hand, Esper Hand, made it to TIME's list of the best inventions. Recently, the startup received additional funding of $5 million.

The main market for Esper Bionics' products is the USA, where their prosthetics are sold through health insurance. The company plans to develop a new version of the prosthetic, which will be more affordable and technologically advanced.

2. Portal AI – $5 million

The startup Portal AI turned into a social network in 2024, where artificial intelligence generates personalized videos at the user's request. The company received $5 million to develop new products and believes in the success of this project.

3. RedTrack – $3.2 million

Ukrainian Vladislav Zhovtenko launched RedTrack in 2017, creating a media analytics platform that already serves over 800 clients worldwide. In 2024, the company attracted $3.2 million in investments from Lead Ventures and other investors.

4. Osavul – $3 million

Osavul, a media analytics startup, successfully attracted $3 million from three venture funds. The company’s solution helps identify information campaigns and coordinated attacks on social media. In 2023, Osavul identified over 600 information threats.

5. Swarmer – $2.7 million

The Ukrainian defense startup Swarmer is working on software that allows an operator to control a swarm of drones. The company attracted $2.7 million in investments in September 2024.

Ukrainian startups continue to attract investments actively even during difficult times for the country. This success demonstrates the potential of Ukrainian technology companies and confidently drives them towards new achievements in the field of artificial intelligence.
