Ukrainian drones strike oil facilities
Дронові удари по нафтовим об'єктам у Пермі: новий етап в далекій військовій стратегії України.

Ukrainian Forces Conduct Operations Inside Russia

According to Главком: In the early hours of May 7, a unit called "Freedom-Loving Ukrainian Birds" from the 1st Separate Workshop of the Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a second strike on strategic facilities in Perm, Russia. The target was the "Perm" linear production and dispatch station. Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign Madyar, confirmed the operation. This attack marks the first time Ukrainian drones have hit oil infrastructure at such a distance, over 1,500 km from the front lines.

This was the second such strike within a week. In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) launched another attack on Russian oil infrastructure, specifically targeting the "Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez" refinery, which has an annual capacity of about 13 million tons. The distance from Ukrainian territory to this facility exceeds 1,500 km. These long-range operations demonstrate Ukraine's growing capability to strike deep inside Russian territory.

Reaction and Consequences

Following explosions at the "Perm" dispatch station, emergency safety measures were triggered at the neighboring refinery connected to it. Commenting on the situation, Robert Brovdi said:

"Get used to it, worms, to the new standard of anxiety. From now on, silence is not to be enjoyed but listened to with cold sweat. The birds of the Unmanned Systems Forces give you a new phobia of buzzing, rustling, and other drone-like acoustic diets." - Robert Brovdi

These events highlight the continuation of active Ukrainian military operations within Russian territory, conducted at great distances from the front line.

  • These strikes demonstrate the ability of Ukrainian forces to conduct operations far from the front line.
  • This could impact the military and economic situation in Russia.
  • Such actions raise concerns about the security of critical infrastructure.
  • The situation points to a shift in battlefield tactics.
  • The possibility of further attacks on strategic targets remains relevant.

The recent strikes highlight a significant escalation in Ukraine's military operations. Following the attacks on oil infrastructure in Perm, the Security Service of Ukraine has targeted the refinery again, further demonstrating the ongoing strategic focus on crippling Russian energy resources. This development underscores the increasing capability of Ukrainian forces to conduct long-range operations with precision.
