Volodymyr Punko's Groundbreaking Achievement

According to Главком: A sound engineer from Lviv, Volodymyr Punko, has claimed a Latin Grammy statue for his contributions to an album by Spanish guitarist Rafael Serrallet. The record, titled 'Y El Canto de Todas', was produced alongside the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra and won the award for Best Instrumental Album. The ceremony took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

This marks the first time a Ukrainian sound engineer has ever received such a prestigious honor. The award was shared among the performer, producer, and sound engineer. Two statues made their way to Ukraine: one for Punko and another for Serhiy Khorovets, who conducted the orchestra during the album's recording. Punko did not attend the awards show, so Serrallet accepted the trophy on his behalf.

“The project became a musical dialogue between cultures, where the guitar serves as the central voice of an emotional, vivid, and multi-layered sonic narrative,”

- Volodymyr Punko

What This Victory Means for Ukrainian Music

This success highlights the growing prominence of Ukrainian music on the global stage and opens up new avenues for collaboration between Ukrainian and international artists.

Winning a Latin Grammy is a major milestone not just for Punko personally, but for the entire Ukrainian music industry. It signals the rising influence of Ukrainian creators worldwide and the potential for deeper cultural exchanges. Such a triumph in a top-tier category could inspire young Ukrainian musicians and sound engineers to pursue bold experiments and partnerships with global stars.
