The young Ukrainian sailor became a prize-winner at the international regatta in Lithuania
The young Ukrainian sailor Agnieszka Madonich achieved a prize-winning position at the international competition in Lithuania, reports 'Glavcom' referring to the Base of Ukrainian Sports.
During the regatta, our athletes demonstrated successful performances in various classes. Especially impressive was the performance of Agnieszka Madonich, who took second place among girls under 16 years old and third place in the overall U-16 standings in the 'Optimist' class.
The Ukrainian team showed an excellent result at the European Youth Olympic Festival, finishing 10th in the overall medal standings. It is noteworthy that our team has 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
This is the second most successful performance of Ukraine in its history at Festivals that have been held since 1993! The Ukrainian team won more awards only in 2019 when they took 25 medals.
Most successful sports at the festival
The most success at the festival was achieved by Ukrainian judokas, who won 6 medals, including bronze in the mixed team tournament on the last day of competition.
Besides judo, our athletes also impressed in swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, rhythmic gymnastics, and table tennis, winning 2 gold, 2 silver, and numerous bronze medals.
It is also worth noting that the World Summer Universiade in Germany has concluded, where the Ukrainian team won bronze thanks to Mykola Rushak in the 20-kilometer race walk, finishing overall in 14th place in the overall medal standings with 12 awards – 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
After the regatta in Lithuania and the successful performance of Ukrainian athletes at the festival and the universiade, it can be concluded that Ukrainian sports have strong talents and demonstrate steady development in various sports at the international level.
