Leonid Muzikus Appointed as Acting Head

According to Главком: The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Leonid Muzikus as the acting head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, replacing Oleg Gotsinyts. This change is enacted by Government Order No. 97-r. Muzikus, who previously served as the First Deputy Head of the Service, will hold the position until a permanent appointment is made. This move comes as Ukraine seeks to strengthen governance in its critical natural resources sector.

Prior to this appointment, Leonid Muzikus worked as the First Deputy General Director of the State Enterprise National Information Systems. His professional background also includes experience at the Ukrainian Fintech Association and the National Bank of Ukraine. Oleg Gotsinyts, who was dismissed on January 8, had been the head of the State Geological Service since November of last year. Before that role, he headed the subsoil use department at JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya, Ukraine's largest subsoil user, which holds hundreds of special permits for oil and natural gas extraction.

Background of Oleg Gotsinyts

In addition, Oleg Gotsinyts concurrently served as a project manager at NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and held expert status with the State Commission on Mineral Reserves. The leadership change at the State Geological Service, executed through a government order, underscores the state's active role in managing Ukraine's resource base.

The shift in leadership at the State Service of Geology and Subsoil may reflect the government's strategic efforts to optimize the management of the country's natural resources. The new acting head, Leonid Muzikus, brings significant experience in financial and managerial spheres, which could prove valuable for the agency's future work. Given contemporary challenges like energy security and efficient resource utilization, the new leadership's focus on stability and transparency in its operations will be crucial.
