Mandatory Device Inspections: Government Slashes the Official List
Deregulation in the Metrology Sector
According to Мін. Економіки: A new government decree has been adopted to deregulate the country's metrology framework. Under the document, 10 categories of measuring instruments will be removed from the list of mandatory periodic inspections, and 9 categories will be cut from the technical regulation annex. The changes apply to devices used by enterprises, laboratories, manufacturers, and suppliers.
Among the instruments no longer subject to compulsory checks are:
- tools for measuring electrical parameters,
- noise level meters,
- and devices that monitor storage and transport conditions for food products and pharmaceuticals.
Deputy Minister Vitalii Petruk commented:
“This decision removes excessive regulation where it no longer aligns with the practical application of metrology laws.”
The resolution will take effect six months after its official publication.
What These Changes Mean for Business
The reforms to metrology legislation could significantly streamline operations for companies that rely on measuring equipment, potentially boosting their overall performance. By cutting red tape, businesses can refocus on core activities, improve efficiency, and lower compliance costs. This move may also enhance Ukraine’s investment climate, as simpler procedures are often a key factor for attracting foreign capital.
In light of these regulatory changes, businesses may also need to adapt to new timelines for compliance reviews, as highlighted in recent government initiatives. Understanding the implications of the government's efforts to streamline oversight is crucial for enterprises navigating this evolving landscape.
