The government is launching automatic military registration: how it will work for conscripts
Launch of the experimental project for automatic military registration
According to ХВИЛЯ: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution to launch an experimental project for automatic military registration of conscripts, military personnel, and reservists. This project aims to simplify the registration process for men who are subject to conscription.
New mechanism for automatic registration
As part of the new mechanism, men who did not register for military service at the age of 17 will automatically receive conscript status upon reaching the age of 18. This means that young people will no longer be required to personally visit military enlistment offices to formalize their status. Also, men aged 18 to 60 who are abroad will receive conscript status while obtaining or exchanging their passport documents.
Oksana Ferchuk explained that the automatic registration mechanism is based on inter-agency information exchange. She noted that:
'A person no longer needs to run around offices and stand in lines to fulfill their duty. The system will do this automatically, as it already has all the necessary data.' - Oksana Ferchuk
Thus, the innovation will simplify the lives of conscripts and reduce the administrative burden associated with military registration.
The introduction of automatic military registration can significantly change the approaches to conscription in Ukraine, simplifying the process for young people and reducing the load on military recruitment offices. It may also contribute to greater transparency and efficiency in the registration system, which is an important aspect in the face of contemporary security challenges. The implementation of such technologies opens new opportunities for improving administrative procedures in the country.
