The government launches a mechanism: state property and seized objects will be transferred for IDPs
Involving state and seized real estate for IDPs
According to Мін. Економіки: The Government of Ukraine is launching a mechanism to involve state and seized real estate for the resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs). As part of this initiative, 112 real estate objects will be used for the needs of those who have been forced to leave their homes due to military actions.
According to the plan, by the end of January 2024, these premises will be allocated among the relevant authorities and institutions. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has been tasked with reviewing the real estate that has not been used in the educational process over the past year for its further use for IDPs.
Coordination and types of premises
Premises subject to transfer include:
- hostel buildings,
- hotel and office premises,
- public leisure buildings.
The coordination of the process is ensured by the Ministry of Economy, Environmental Protection, and Agriculture, which will be responsible for the effective implementation of this mechanism.
The introduction of this mechanism is an important step in addressing the issue of resettling internally displaced persons in Ukraine who have suffered as a result of the war. The use of state and seized real estate can significantly ease the living conditions of IDPs and provide them with the necessary living conditions. As the Ministry of Education is also involved in the process, this indicates a comprehensive approach to addressing the social challenges posed by the armed conflict.
