Gasoline and Diesel Sales in Occupied Sevastopol

According to Главком: Starting June 28, fuel sales are set to resume in occupied Sevastopol after nearly a week-long halt. The occupation authorities are introducing new regulations, including a QR code system for fuel access and a cap of 20 liters per car. Sales were suspended the previous Sunday amid a fuel crisis triggered by Ukrainian drone strikes.

Residents will need to obtain a special QR code through a bot on the Russian messaging platform Max before they can refuel. According to Mikhail Razvozhayev,

“refueling a vehicle will only be possible after receiving a special QR code.”

The limit will allow no more than 20 liters of gasoline or diesel per vehicle.

On June 22, Sergey Aksyonov announced a complete halt to fuel sales at all gas stations across the peninsula, with the exception of government vehicles. This decision followed the worsening fuel crisis caused by Ukrainian drone attacks.

New Rules and Restrictions

Thus, from June 28, Sevastopol residents will be able to access fuel again, but must adhere to the new rules and restrictions imposed by the occupation administration.

The resumption of fuel sales in Sevastopol is a response to the shortage resulting from military actions and infrastructure strikes. The introduction of QR codes and refueling limits highlights the occupation authorities' efforts to manage the situation and curb potential abuses. It also reflects the crisis conditions in the region, which are likely to disrupt daily life for residents facing new constraints on accessing essential resources.

The introduction of a QR code system for fuel purchases in Sevastopol is part of a broader strategy to manage the ongoing fuel crisis. For those interested in understanding the implications of these new regulations and how they compare to previous fuel access policies, further details can be found in our article on the recent QR code requirement for gasoline sales.
