In Ukraine, a unique method of identifying the deceased has been developed
According to hvylya.net: Ukrainian forensic criminologists from Vinnytsia have developed a new method of identifying the deceased that allows for the restoration of finger skin for further fingerprinting. According to them, this technology will eliminate several months of identification procedures in favor of just a few days.
The group 'Veterans' Space' announced this breakthrough in the field of deceased identification. The new method guarantees an accuracy comparable to DNA testing, but does not require as much time.
'We with the team developed a solution that can restore mummified hands in just 12 hours. Sometimes this process takes only 3 hours, it all depends on the initial condition of the hands,' - explained Golovin.
Additionally, specialists developed a method of X-ray contrast fingerprinting, which allows for obtaining fingerprints from mummified hands without prior restoration in a solution.
Updated advantages of the identification method
Currently, fingerprint identification is the cheapest, fastest, and most proven method of establishing identity through fingerprints. Previously, it was difficult to apply to bodies with visible damage.
The authors of the new technology are preparing methodological recommendations with a detailed algorithm for using their unique approach to identifying the deceased.
However, the widespread implementation of the new method is hindered by the lack of appropriate legislation. There is currently no law that obliges servicemen to undergo fingerprinting along with the transfer of DNA samples.
This invention could significantly accelerate the process of identifying deceased defenders of Ukraine and alleviate the suffering of their relatives who are waiting for the return of their loved ones home.
The Ukrainian forensic criminologists from Vinnytsia have invented an innovative method of identifying the deceased by restoring finger skin. This technology can greatly simplify and speed up the process of establishing the identities of the deceased, particularly in conditions of armed conflict. The authors of the new method demonstrate high accuracy and speed of results, making it an effective and promising tool for forensic experts.
