A rare mushroom, Porpolomopsis calyptriformis, has been discovered in the Ukrainian Carpathians, near the village of Putyla in Bukovina. This species is listed in the third edition of the Red Book of Ukraine with the status 'Rare'. This news comes from the National Nature Park 'Chereomysk'.

In many European countries, this mushroom is protected due to its endangered status. According to the 'IUCN Red List' (a catalog of threatened species of plants, animals, and fungi), it is classified as 'Vulnerable'.

'In Ukraine, it is very rarely found, even lacking its own name – we use the Latin terminology,' noted the National Nature Park.

This mushroom is not edible, which explains its unpopularity among mushroom pickers.

We remind you that the mushroom season in Ukraine lasts almost all year round, but the best opportunities for mushroom gathering are in August-September, when various types can be found on the market. Remember that picking mushrooms without permission is prohibited by law, and violations can lead to fines.

A rare mushroom species, Porpolomopsis calyptriformis, has been found in its rare habitat in the Carpathians, which is protected and threatened in many countries.
