Schools in Ukraine from September 1, 2025: which learning formats will students choose
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Nadiya Kuzmychova explained that from September 1, 2025, schools will start operating under new rules. The cancellation of Order No. 1112 on distance learning was the result of an agreement between the Ministry of Education and frontline regions due to special security challenges.
'Although the order has been canceled, the Ministry of Education does not abandon the main ideas that were laid down in it and will continue to work on their implementation. The problem was in poor communication - we did not clearly convey these ideas to the communities,' Kuzmychova explained.
The key provisions of the document will be included in new regulatory acts before the beginning of the school year, and the format of school work will depend on the situation in each region. From September 1, 2025, students will be able to learn in any format: full-time, mixed, distance, or individual. For offline classes, there must be a shelter in the facility or no further than 500 meters from it. In a mixed format, schools can alternate days or weeks of full-time and distance learning according to an approved schedule. Additionally, information regarding the operation of distance classes and learning in frontline territories will be added, the organization of which will depend on the decisions of the Ministry of Education and Science.
