According to glavcom.ua: Maya Velichko demonstrated impressive results at the Cadet World Cup in fencing, winning the bronze medal at the competitions in Budapest. She won her group, outperformed her opponents in the 'Olympic' bracket, and although she couldn't win the semifinal, she still secured the bronze.
Another Ukrainian athlete, Emily Konrad, also impressed with her performance at the fencing tournament in France, becoming a silver medalist. These successes allowed Ukraine to win its first bronze medal in 13 years at the junior continental championship in the team event for sabre fencers.
